2006: "I've found one of the best places to look for old beads and beadwork is England. The English traveled extensively and brought back souvenirs which now show up at antique shows and flea markets. This year I'll spend about two weeks in England...half the time will be spent teaching for the Bead Society of Great Britain and the Worcestershire Beaders and the rest will be spent antiquing in London with my sister. My favorite show is Covent Garden on Monday. The dealers are friendly and prices are a little lower than Porto Bello Road. Watch this space for a report on my finds! Diane has traveled to South Africa to study Zulu and Xhosa beadwork and to the Czech Republic, Germany and other areas to learn about the glass bead industry and meet beadworkers and beadmakers.
